35th International Ionian Sailing Week 2025
The notation "[DP]" in a rule means that the penalty for breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than a disqualification. The notation "[NP]" in a rule means that a boat may not protest against another boat for a violation of that rule. This amends RRS 60.1. The abbreviation "NoR" stands for Notice of Race and the abbreviation "SI" stands for Sailing Instructions.
1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY
The Sailing Clubs of Patras “I.O. Patras”, Sailing club of Kerkyra “IOK”, the Nautical club of Kefalonia – Ithaki, The Athletic Club of Ithaki “Proodos”, the ANOZ Zakinthos, the Nautical club of Lefkada, the Nautical club of Preveza and the Nautical Club of Mesolongi announce the Offshore Sailing Race "35th International Ionian Sailing Week 2025" from Monday 04 August to Sunday 10 August 2025, for boats with ORCi, ORC Club rating certificates.
2. RACE AREA
The event will be held in the Ionian Sea and the Gulf of Patras starting from Preveza, and visiting Lefkada, Astakos, Messolonghi and finishing in Patras.
3. SECRETARIAT – COMMUNICATION
3.1 The address of the Secretariat and the Race Committee until the start of the race is as follows: Marina Terpsitheas 26441 Patras, Tel. 2610423939, 6974157853, 6972786209 Efthimios Boundas, President of the Organizing Committee and 6977070086 Takis Rountos President of the Race Committee. E-mail: info@sailingclub.gr, iopatra@gmail.com. The Secretariat is open Monday to Friday 09:00-16:00.
3.2 The online official notice board can be found at the link https://sailingclub.gr/ionion-week of the website.
3.3 [DP][NP] All boats will carry a VHF device with communication capability on channels 06, 12, 13, 14, 16, 69, 72, 73 and 77.
3.4 [DP] While racing, except in case of emergency, a boat will not transmit or receive voice or data transmissions, which are not available to all boats.
4. RULES
4.1 The race shall be conducted in accordance with the rules as set out in the World Sailing (WS) Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2029 (RRS).
4.2 The race shall also be conducted in accordance with the current version of the following:
• The International Measurement System (IMS Rule).
• The ORC Rating Systems (ORC Rule).
• The WS Offshore Special Regulations (OSR). The race shall be classified in class 4.
• WS Equipment Rules of Sailing (ERS).
• The prescriptions of the National Authority: Hellenic Sailing Federation (HSF) and Hellenic Offshore Committee (HOC) ( including the relevant circulars.
• The Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGs), which replaces Part 2 of the RRS Rules from sunset to sunrise.
5. CO-ORGANISERS, ATHLETES & SPONSORS
5.1 Sponsors and all those who will contribute to the better organisation of the race will be announced in due time.
5.2 The Organizing Authority (OA) may require participating boats to display a sponsor's logo sticker on both sides of the bow during the event, in accordance with Article 4 of the World Sailing Advertising Code. The stickers will be supplied by the OA.
5.3 The OA may also require the installation, at no cost, of a video camera or boat tracking device on participating boats, and may use images of the Regatta to promote the race and its destinations.
6. ADVERTISING
6.1 Boats wishing to carry individual advertising during the race shall comply with the provisions of the WS Advertising Code and the Special Provisions of the HSF/HOC.
6.2 Boats carrying individual advertising shall have the approval of the HSF/HOC.

7. ELIGIBILITY
7.1 Boats with a valid ORC International (ORCi), and ORC Club rating certificate will be admitted to the race.
7.2 Boats with an ORC Non Spinnaker (NS) and ORC Double Handed certificate will not be accepted.
7.3 The entry fee for each boat is set at 50€.
8. ENTRY
8.1 Interested parties can register by Monday 04 August at 12:00 noon at the latest by filling in the entry form, which is available on the race website (https://sailingclub.gr/ionion-week), and submitting by email to the Sailing Club of Patras Secretariat (iopatra@gmail.com) together with the following:
• Copy of a valid ORC 2025 rating Certificate.
• Copy of the valid insurance policy of the vessel. The insurance policy shall include coverage for third party damage during sailing races, as required by the National Authority.
• Crew list, including the full name, sailor ID number (from their National Authority) and the weight of each crew member.
• A copy of the Advertising Permission from the National Authority if applicable
• Proof of payment of the entry fee.
• For safety reasons, the entry form must include at least one mobile telephone, which must be on board the boat and which can be used for communication during the entire competition.
8.2 The Organising Authority reserves the right to accept entries after the deadline for submission.
8.3 Entries that do not comply with the above conditions will not be accepted.
8.4 The Organising Authority reserves the right to refuse, by a reasoned decision, the participation of a boat in the race in accordance with RRS76 and National Prescriptions.
8.5 No changes to the rating certificates shall be allowed after the submission of the Entry Form, unless requested or approved by the Technical Committee and in any case before the start of the first race.
8.6 Protests by boats regarding the rating certificate of the participating boats as announced in the final entry list shall be accepted up to two hours after the announcement of the final entry list.
9. DATES – ROUTES – SCHEDULE OF RACES & EVENTS
9.1 The 35th International Ionian Sailing Week 2025 consists of four (4) races.
9.2 The schedule is: Monday 04 August 2025 Time : 12:00 Time limit for entry. Time: 11:00 to 18:00 Boat inspections. TIME: 20:00 Skipper’s meeting HOUR: 21:00 Opening Ceremony . Tuesday 05 August 2025 TIME: 11:00 Start of the 1 st Race (Preveza – Sessoula – Lefkada 31 N.M.) Wednesday 06 August 2025 TIME: 21:00 Prize ceremony of the 1 st Race in Lefkada Thursday 07 August 2025 TIME: 11:00 Start of the 2 nd Race (Lefkada – Astakos 27 N.M.) Friday 08 August 2025 TIME: 21:00 Prize ceremony of the 2 nd Race in Astakos Saturday 09 August 2025 TIME: 11:00 Start of the 3 rd Race (Astakos – Messolonghi 30 N.M.) TIME: 21:00 Prize ceremony of the 3 rd Race. Sunday 10 August 2025 TIME: 11:00 Start of the 4 th Race (Messolonghi – Patras, 19 NM) TIME: 21:00 Closing ceremony, awarding of the 4 th Race and General Classification. Other social events during the Sailing Week will be scheduled and participants will be notified accordingly..
9.3 The Organizing Authority reserves the right to modify the dates, courses, race schedule and events if health reasons so require.

10.CLASSES – CATEGORIES
10.1 The boats will be entered in the ORC class.
10.2 Boats in the class will be divided into categories (A, B and C) based on total entries and the CDL of their rating certificate.
10.3 The Race Committee reserves the right to merge the above categories at its discretion, depending on the number of participating boats and the applicable regulations.
10.4 The list of the applicable categories for the race will be given to the designated representatives of the participating boats at the skippers' meeting.
11. TIME CORRECTION SYSTEM
11.1 For boats in the ORC class, the Performance Curve Scoring-Constructed Course time correction system will be applied. The Implied Wind of the first boat will be used to calculate the corrected times. In the event that the Race Committee deems that there is insufficient wind data to use the Performance Curve Scoring -Constructed Course system, the Performance Curve Scoring – All purpose system will be used.
11.2 The Race Committee's data on distances, wind direction and strength, the choice of time correction system and the way it is announced cannot be considered in any request of Redress. This amends RRS 61.1(a).
11.3 The finish Time Limit shall be determined according to the formula "APH x 2.5 x Distance", where "Distance" is defined in nautical miles in paragraph 9.2. In the event of forecasted light winds or calms during any or all of the races in the race, or other cause, the Race Committee may specify an alternative higher factor in the above formula to give boats a longer finish time limit. The determination of an alternative coefficient may be made by notice from the Race Committee no later than 2 hours before the designated start time of a race. The Race Committee may also modify the above time limits in the Race Instructions.
12.SCORING SYSTEM
12.1 The Low Scoring System of RRS Rule A4 shall apply.
12.2 Two (2) races are necessary for the regatta to be valid. For a race in each class to be considered valid, a minimum of three (3) boats must start in that class.
12.3 The weighting factor for each race shall be 1.0.
12.4 The final score for each boat shall be the sum of its score in each race, with no exceptions.
12.5 The scores of the individual categories will be derived from the overall score of the respective class.
13. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
13.1 The Sailing Instructions and start sheets will be published on the official notice board no later than Monday 04 August 2025, 17:00.
13.2 In the event of a conflict between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions, the Sailing Instructions shall prevail. This modifies RRS 63.5(c)(2).
14. EQUIPMENT INSPECTIONS [DP]
14.1 Boats shall be inspected in accordance with the provisions of the National Authority.
14.2 All boats will be available for the Technical Committee to carry out checks and inspections on Monday 04 August (11:00 to 18:00) together with an available crew member.
14.3 The Technical Committee reserves the right to inspect boats, unannounced, at any time before the start of the races, during the stay at the race ports, during the races and after the finish of each race.
14.4 A copy of the Rating Certificate, paper or electronic format, shall be available to the Technical Committee on each boat.
14.5 The owner or designated representative of each boat shall be aware that:
• they have the responsibility to maintain the vessel in accordance with the regulations for their class (RRS 78.1).
• In accordance with OSR, they must designate a person to assume the responsibilities of the person in charge in the event of their own incapacitation and that at least two crew members must be familiar with First Aid, Hypothermia, Drowning, CPR and related communication systems procedures.
14.6 All sails carried by participating boats, except for storm sails, shall be measured and shall bear a valid IMS measurement stamp.
15. CREW LIST [DP]

15.1 The designated representative of each participating boat shall submit a written list with the names of all persons on board on a special form available from the Secretariat together with the entry form, not later than Monday 04 August, 12:00 noon.
15.2 For safety reasons, the identification of an incorrect or incomplete crew list may result in the disqualification of the boat in that particular race.
15.3 Changes in crew composition shall be permitted only after written notification to and approval by the Race Committee, on a special form available from the Secretariat and on the electronic notice board no later than two hours before the start of each race.
15.4 The total weight of the crew members shall not exceed the maximum indicated on the Rating Certificate.
16.RESPONSIBILITY
16.1 All participants in the race accept that they are governed by the rules in paragraph 3 of the Notice of Race, in accordance with RRS Rule 4 (Acceptance of Rules).
16.2 The Organising Clubs, the Organising Authority, the Protest Committee, the Race Committee, the Technical Committee and any other person or body involved in the organisation of the regatta shall not be liable for damage to property or personal injury, injury or death or anything else that may occur to competitors or their boats, or that may occur from competitors or their boats to other third parties or to other third party boats, before or during or after the race referred to in this Notice. Attention is drawn to the fundamental rule RRS3 "Decision to participate in a race", which states: "The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone ". By submitting the entry form, the boat's designated representative has automatically accepted these conditions.
16.3 As specified by law 2743/99, all boats must have Third Party Liability Insurance. The Third Party Liability Insurance must include racing risk. The yacht must submit a relevant certificate.
17. RIGHTS OF USE
All participants in the race automatically accept that the Organizing Authority and the Event Sponsor(s) reserve the right indefinitely to create, use and display at their discretion cinematographic material and live film or video transmissions and any reproduction thereof during and after the races without any financial claim.
18. CHAMPIONSHIPS
18.1 Prizes will be awarded to the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd winner of each category of the ORC class, for each race, depending on the entries.
18.2 Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2 nd and 3 rd winner of the Overall Score of all races for each individual ORC category, depending on the entries.
18.3 Prizes will be awarded to the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd winner of the Overall Score for the ORC class, depending on the entries.
18.4 For up to 5 boats participating, a prize will be awarded to the 1 st winner. For entries of 6 to 9 boats, prizes will be awarded to the top 2 winners. For participation of 10 boats or more, prizes will be awarded to the first 3 winners.
18.5 The prize giving will take place at a venue to be announced during the regatta.
19.NAUTICAL CHARTS
It is recommended to use the charts of the Hellenic Hydrographic Service (www.hnhs.gr).
20. MOORING FACILITIES
Mooring will be free of charge in all ports of the race. The Organising Authority will make every effort to provide berthing space including for all accompanying boats that will be registered with the race secretariat.
